You Don't Even Know, Dude

What I did in New York yesterday (part 2):

  • Went with Hannah to MoMA (got dumplings from a food truck first, they were awesome). MoMA was amazing. I tweeted a series of dumbass thoughts on the art throughout the trip. The top floor was a special exhibit on art for children, from the turn of the 20th century to modern day. There were sections on toys, clothes, and furniture, as well as stuff on television (they had a little Pee-Wee’s Playhouse installation, where they projected an episode of the TV series and had a few original props from the show) and a little area about video games (the three games they selected to be noteworthy were Tetris, Sim City, and Katamari Damacy). If you’re in New York, you should really check out this exhibit before it’s gone.
  • Later, we went to another open mic, one in Brooklyn called 5th Estate. This one was actually fun, the crowd was again basically all comics but they were supportive and cool. I talked to a few after the show, and they agreed that Creek and the Cave is an uncomfortable environment and they don’t like it there. I’ll totally hit up 5th Estate again next time I’m in town.
  • Then we just went back to Hannah’s place and played Settlers of Catan with her roommate (he won because he set up this genius arrangement that made it so he had the resources to build a city every time someone rolled an 8, like a smart dude).
  • Now I’m on the train to Vermont about to watch the new Face-Off and I’m very excited.
