This is streets ahead of when I saw them at the same place in ‘06 (aside from having Josh Klinghoffer instead of John Frusciante, but whatever, you get what you get). They only played the best songs off the new album (except Meet Me at the Corner, which is kind of a snooze) and seriously none of the energy was lost.

Flea told this story about one of the first times they came to Oakland and he was playing basketball after the show and got dunked on by a ten-year-old, and at the end, after the encore, he gave this speech about how important it is to support live music, whether it’s electronic, country, punk, or “corporate bullshit music”, just go to shows and see music you love.

Oh! And as he was going to get his bass for the beginning of the encore, he walked on his hands all the way from one end of the stage to the other. You can tell me these guys are getting old, I seriously won’t believe you.
