That scene is also an homage to New Gods #2, where Darkseid is waiting in Orion’s living room after he rescues some humans from Apokolips. I’d call it his Signature Move.
I forgot about that! I even have that comic (in paperback form)!
Darkseid just loves living rooms, I guess. Or maybe he likes surprising people in their homes, but since the New Gods don’t have surprise birthday parties since they don’t have birthdays, this is the best he can do.
Gods don’t have birthdays, right?

All gods were birthed at some point, especially since the New Gods are uhm new, so while they have birthdays they may not celebrate them
