Every time I think I can’t love George Perez’ take on Dick Grayson any more, I see new work he’s done and fall for it all over again.
George posted the story behind it on his Facebook, but since I know not everyone likes linking directly to there here’s the text…
Yesterday, Carol and I were treated to Crosby, Stills and Nash concert at the Hard Rock Cafe by a dear young friend (and comics fan) Eugene Schnee. Eugen is also a big fan of Dick Grayson, both as Robin and Nightwing. He had asked if I could do a little sketch of the character. This is the piece I gave him as we met him at the Hard Rock. The big smile on his face was especially gratifying! A reaction like that is just one of the many reasons being a comic book artist is so much fun!Whoever Eugen is, I envy him like CRAZY!
The fact that George Perez considers this to be a “little sketch” is part of what makes him so awesome.

This was on Netflix so I watched it. The cast is better than the movie. When it’s not basking in the utter audacity of the concept, the characters and stakes suffer. Ty Burrell is wasted, Hugh Jackman is good but underutilized, and the weird thing between Olivia Wild and Ashley Greene comes out of nowhere and goes nowhere. It’s a very flawed movie that survives based on its sight gags of ludicrous butter sculptures and Rob Corddry mugging the exact perfect amount.
Maybe I just don’t like Jennifer Garner. I don’t know. Kristen Schaal is also in it and is perfect.

Well alright! Here is a project I’ve been working on since my seasonal Star Trek bug came back at the beginning of Spring. With the new movie this week, I gave myself today as a deadline and vowed to post whatever I had finished. If you ask me, 4 pages ain’t bad. I hoped to get all the way through, but you’ll just have to stay tuned!I have always had an idea of what a ST cartoon could be, and what my perfect Saturday Morning Trek should have in it. Then I figured, why wish for a show to exist when I can just get to work on a comic.
There’s more to come, of course, but for now enjoy the first installment of Star Trek Galaxy! Reblog if you like it!
Oh my lord, what? Amazing.
Sakaiminato is the hometown of manga cartoonist Shigeru Mizuki. A street of the town is dedicated to the ghosts, monsters and characters that appear in his stories, a hundred of bronze statues are on the both sides of the road. There is also a dedicated museum.
